How to travel on a budget
Ever wanted to travel but felt like you can't spend so much money on holiday destinations because your bank account ain't popping enough and there's no room for splurging?
Well, good news, this post is going to be all about how you can plan a holiday trip on a budget to that beautiful island you have envisaged for such a long time. So here we go:
- Plan ahead - This is a no-brainer, it's imperative for almost anything you have in mind to do other than going on a holiday trip. Set out thinking where it is you want to go to and how much you're willing to spend on the trip. Best thing is to get yourself a note pad and start jotting down possible destinations, accommodation prices, transportation around the place you'll be travelling and so on.
"Always plan ahead. It wasn't raining when Noah built the ark - Richard Cushing"
- Off peak season - It is advisable to travel around off peak periods, which is essentially travelling around less busy periods. During such times, fares are relatively cheap. You could try going to Malta in November it's normally beautiful weather around that time (22°C) and it's affordable as it is off peak season.
- Check fares regularly - This will go a long way in helping you save money. You could get tickets at discounted prices, if you start checking months before your chosen date of departure.
- Visa costs - Some countries require visas in order to be granted entry, while some do not. Make sure to do some research on whether this applies to you or not. This way you know much money to set aside for the cost of getting a visa. Or better still, you could travel to countries that do not require you have a visa upon entry. Even though it's not on your list of places you intend to go to someday, you never know what hidden gem you could find such countries, so give it a shot but make sure to do some research before deciding.
- Accommodation - Extremely important!!! Booking sites are the way to go if you're looking for affordable and pleasant hotels/accommodation. Keep on checking such websites for amazing deals. If you're travelling in a group or with family, it is advisable that you search for apartments or condos. It's way cheaper because the amount of money you would pay per night for a single room in a hotel may sometimes be the same as that which you would pay per night for a two bedroom apartment. So be wise and economical about your decisions.
Finally, let's not forget about the fun and relaxation available on holiday trips ranging from engaging in the culture of the place to going on tours. Remember holidays are important in building a stronger bond between families and friends and they are for unwinding, so put all work aside and have the most fun because you only live once.
